    Spark Plugs

Want to change spark plugs on my K20A. Wanna see what you guys recommend?

I have always used ngk plugs and never had a problem and seem to last as well. went to their site and did a quick spark plug finder guide they had and came up with this:

    Recommended Plug for i-VTEC K20A IFR7G-11KS

I've used HKS super fire power racing plugs HR8. Buggered if I know if they made any difference.

IFR7G-11KS are your stock plugs, they are already Iridium plugs and have a temperature rating of 7. No need to go colder (ie 8 or 9)
I would not recommend using hotter plugs (rating of 6 or lower) on the K20A

Unless you have significantly increased your car's power output...there's no point in changing to colder spark plugs.

The point of having colder spark plugs is the capacity of the spark plug to dissipate heat. With an engine producing heaps more increased power from stock, it's recommended to use colder spark plugs to handle the extra heat generated from the increase in power.

thanks for info tofu. I didn't know stock plugs were iridiums.

dark138, Just always used Ngk plugs and never had a problem so may as well stick with it. I generally just get my workshop to get them in for me but super cheap can probably order them in.

              well if all else fails..

i believe the K20A can use the Iridium series of the NGK which are BKr6eIX11..

or if you want a slightly colder plug BKR7eIX11

i am about 99% certain you can use those in the K20a..

The reason i gave a different plug is because i have a feeling the "IFR7G-11KS" is quite hard and very expensive to buy in melbourne..

yeah the vast majority of all plugs (no whatever what brand they are branded) are either made by NGK or denso

I believe the Dc5r stock plugs are already Irridiums so it be a downgrade to goto copper..

but i use coppers in my car sometimes.. depends.. but currently i use irridiums in my vtir =P

the code for the Copper is just minus "IX" so BKR6e11 and BKR7e11

                            technically Iridiums

but Iridium is from the platinum family and is a transition metal i believe..

also irridium is the most corrosion resistant metal there is.. cannot be attacked by any acids or aqua regia.
