    DC2R Type R Insurance Results

    My Insurance was due for renewal today and I had been going to move from CGU to Vigil. I had a quote from Vigil from about 3 months ago. Resons being CGU increased premium by $330 over last year (to $1680) and they don't like mods, Vigil allow unlimited modifications at the same price.

    On applying with Vigil today, they refused, saying they were not insuring Type R's in NSW any more.

    My Scenario.
    29 yo male, postcode 2151, 2001 Integra Type R, 60% NCB. Mod's being aftermarket air intake, extractors and wheels. History completely clean for last 5 years. I have immobiliser, kill switch and alarm.

    I subsequently called;
    -Unique Car Insurance; now owned by Vigil and therefore also unable to help
    -Just Car Insurance; $2050
    -SunCorp; $3050
    -Vero; No
    -Dawes; No
    -Shannons; $2600

    Torque Underwriting; $1213, unlimited mods, only problem is market value only and they rate the car value 15% lower than CGU. Choice of repairer, NCB protection that only protects one claim per insurance period.

    So I'm now with Torque.

      Go with Shannons, and make sure you mention the CAMS mates rates, providing you have a CAMS license.

        Do you know with Shannons if being a member of a club with CAM's affiliation is OK or do I need proper cams license?

          Ouch, I am with Suncorp Metaway in Brisbane. Cost is approx. $1800 on Rating 2. Year before Rating 1, just over $1k. Guess a little claim makes all the difference and of course the rating change.

                        They will ask you what CAMS license you have when you mention CAMS mates rates.
