Hottest ever? What is their definition of hottest?? Certainly doesn't mean "fastest"...

Looks better than the new CTR hatch

there are rumors abt toyota releasing a 'sports' version corolla.... apparently it'll be powered by the 2GR-FE (200kw 3.5L V6 currently used in the new Aurion and Tarago). but with that much power at the front wheels, i can only imagine understeer and poor handling... but if the chassis is well designed, i guess it'll be a diff story.

Drop the 2GR-FE in an MR configuration, it'd be on par with the good ole Renault Clio V6 LMs. Otherwise, the echo resemblance and backward 100kW dial-count just don't seem to "Sportivo" to me.

Food for though - What's with the Toyota small car theory of limiting themselves to 100kW? They never seem to really get away with that number permanently do they? Hang on, then again, Honda is doing the same thing with the 140kW BS.

OK to make a proper post...

I went for a test drive with a mate on Saturday and we could only drive the Conquest and not the Levin ZR.

Both have same engine but the Levin ZR has features which the Conquest doesn't have...to name a few:
                            - HIDs
                            - Rain sensing wipers
                            - Smart entry system and push button start
                            - Some optimeter thingy dash

They had one in the showroom so we were just playing around with those features...the smart entry system is pretty cool...I like that the most haha. Pity leather is not an available option for the hatchback.

We took the Conquest out for a drive and my first impressions were that the gear stick was much higher then usual car...which I didn't mind...I actually quite liked it by the end of the drive...though the center console was too low hence I couldn't rest my arm and have my hand on the knob (lol). Power was nothing to jump up and down for...it moved 5 people (we test drove manual) so I've say it's alright...Steering, I didn't really like...it feels too light like the new cars (Jazz, Mazda2 etc...)

The rear passengers were not cramped either...we had two guys over 6" in the back and the fat salesman as well.

Lastly, I'd say that this car is kinda cool with all the features you get...though not worth the 34k price tag you gotta pay (the price includes the sunroof). I mean for 34k, you could get pretty far in terms of buying a performance car. Though I can see this being another popular car on the market as it has all the little things like 6 cd / mp3 with aux-in, HIDs etc as mentioned above. BTW these features are only available on the top model Corollas. One last note, something which I thought that sucked is that the automatic models only come in 4 speed. Oh and the manuals are all 6 speed so that's cool

                            Just my 2 cents.

Following on from Mo's review - I was one of the passengers at the test drive.

My thoughts are from a passenger's view.

                              - was impressed that it could lug around 4 full grown men (+ the fat salesmen)
                              - it really does look technologically advanced!
                              - optitronmeter thing on ZR series was VERY cool
                              - seats on conquest were far from comfy (ZR has a slight bucket on front seats)
                              - seemed overly light and bouncy

Personally, I don't believe the price tag is justified. However, for an everyday person who wants an everyday car with some fun gadgets etc, I see no reason to invest in this little cute car =)
