What makes an exhaust sound gurgly ...

May be this sounds stupid, but I'm wondering what makes the sound of an exhaust more "gurgly" ... or more of a rumble.

I'm not sure if you get what I mean .. but some cars sound like banshee's and other's sound more like a burble/gurgle/rumble ... and they can have the same exhaust

One example might be dc2rrr's car with a powergetter

Is it to do with the cam timing and firing?

Headers pay a big part in burble..

      In a nutshell..
Uneven headers = Burble = Less power
Even = No burble = More power

Ppl always ask me whydoesn't my Liberty sound like a "Subaru".. it's the even headers

... All of the above.....& if your Throttle body's butterfly is worn-out.
Same effect as just opened butterfly (very lightly on the gas) will cause the grurgle. My car does it when I havn't taken my foot all the way off the gas when slowing.
