The gearbox issue varies from person to person, I have been driving mine for 4 years now (August 03 model) and although it has rattled me in the past I rarley have any issues these days; Some people just need to learn how to shift it in a more desirable way me thinks. Not much to say really about what to look for when purchasing a second hand'i other than fair wear and tear, the recaro seats will be worn from getting in and out and the belt marks over the sholder will show signs of wear too. Always get the car checked by RACQ ect....if you see a potential buy.

DC5's are a great car to drive no doubt about it and most owners are quite prowd so most you will be looking at should be in good condition.
    Just along for the ride

check front engine mount, they are known to break easily

Had a friend complained about his gears crunching from 1st to 2nd, went to check it out , ended up being his driving.

You know who you are !!!

Horse power is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you."

It could also be your gearbox oil as well...I've experienced gears crunching previously in the DC2R but after a oil change, it was fine!

also check for any bonnet rattles...
if there's bonnet rattles, then most likely the front end has been repaired..
