    DC5 Oxygen Sensor

    Hi guys,

First thread on ClubITR so here we go!

This is a similar thread that I posted onto Ozhonda but I thought I'd share the knowledge for those wondering

    Enjoy!

    http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthr...-Oxygen-Sensor

I recently just bought a dc5 and below is an explanation of how I resolved the oxy issue. Thought I would share some of my knowledge for those of you who are experiencing this as it's a common issue from what I've heard!

The car had a busted oxy sensor when i bought it so I decided it was time to be changed. Through numerous hours of research I found the best places to source *PRIMARY* oxys.
Now this is up to personal preference, some people prefer Denso (the one Honda sourced their oxys from) or ones from honda....the same thing, but some people have 'superstitions'. I can clearly clarify that when I pulled my stock one out, it had Denso written on it btw.

For a 'Real Honda One' I found this Japanese/Russian website handy. They also had other interesting things on there. I bought a boot shade hook and got it in the mail after 4 days..FROM JAPAN!

For a Denso one I found RockAuto in the USA to be the place to go. Also have other stuff for RSX/Tegra so have a look!
    http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...-2349005-22091

Rockauto is about $150 with postage.
Impex is about $220 with postage.
Hope this helps anyone looking for oxys without getting ripped $500 from honda for one!!
Secondary sensors can also be sourced from Impex for the same price I believe, I'm yet to experiment with Rockauto.

Ps, Impex is a tricky website which took me a little practice to get used to. Feel free to Pm me if wanting a little guidance!

Feel free to pm me if the links don't work

    Your hyper links are broken.

But anyone who wants to buy them cheaper can get them for less on Amazon.com (~$110 + free postage)

                Hi Mothius,
I have a 2003 dc5 and my engine light came on - got a diagnostic from a local mechanic with codes P1167 and P1166 come up, which I believe is to replace the primary Oxygen sensor. Please correct me if I wrong?
I was just wondering will the denso oxygen sensor at the amazon link above work on my car to turn off the engine light? Did this happen to you?

That is the correct sensor for the DC5R. Not too sure if it's the same for the base model.

Thanks for the help T-baGGer. I will have to continue my research about the denso oxygen sensor above will fit into a base model dc5.

                      Hi dc5maria,

Sorry for the late reply!! I managed to miss your questions.
Fortunately I can answer your question though..and good news, YES!! The part number is the same for the Base as it is for the Type R, didn't look into the type S but I can confirm it will work in the Base model as I have one myself
                      Hope this helps!

Also, incase you aren't best friends with your mechanic and he loves to eat up your money for simple jobs like reading codes and what not, there is a way to get the code by yourself using a simple 'jumper cable'.

                        http://forum.clubitr.com.au/showthre...w-Light)/page3
How to read the code..The connector is under the steering wheel on the left side (where your left leg is..assuming you drive a RHD car)
The codes are then explained through flashes of the CEL.
Here is a link to what the flashes indicate/the problems
