Here's a suggestion from left field Porsche 944.
$20K will get you a post 1984 944 with good history and relatively low kilometres.
Classic car with RWD, almost perfect weight distribution, heaps of parts and large community for advice. 944 is a super reliable car and is massively over-engineered.
I looked at 1983 944 a few years and it was a revelation. Pulled like a freight train with heaps of torque and the rear wheel drive gave it sublime handling. In 1984 they introduced an updated model and these are the ones to get,

Fantastic! Bucket loads of torque, so poised on the road, handle sensationally.. Will be getting it tuned by a renowned RS tuner soon who is coming over to Australia from Europe.Originally posted by cordz View PostFantastic purchase. What's it drive like?

The shape is definitely better in person, as is the paint. In person you can see how aggressive the styling of the body is.. The rear end was always a topic of debate amongst myself, but I have grown to like it... Prices vary depending on many factors, there was only 5 for sale Australia wide when I picked this up a couple of weeks ago. Around -20k+ I got this one for a steal, did need rego within two weeks which factored into the price..Originally posted by Setanta View PostAwesome, love the colour and I've never been sure if the body shape is attractive or ugly, but it's certainly a cool shape in a world of 21st Century beige-boxes
What are they selling for?

I'm with you there. But I'm sure it's chassis will more than make up for it's quirky aesthetics.Originally posted by Setanta View PostAwesome, love the colour and I've never been sure if the body shape is attractive or ugly, but it's certainly a cool shape in a world of 21st Century beige-boxes
