    DC2R tyre recommendation

    Hi all,

    Wanting to start a thread to share everyone's personal experiences of the tyres you had on your DC2R that's worth recommending. Understand different tyres would emerge overtime, so please let this be a rolling thread based on below criteria.

    Size (195/55/15- etc):
    Modification level (IHE/Tune/etc):
    Dry grip (Good/ Average/ Poor):
    Wet grip (Good/ Average/ Poor):
    Side wall flex (Soft/ Medium/ Hard):
    Type of use (Daily/ no. of trackdays per year/ etc):
    Durability (no. of kms):
    Price:

    At the sametime, I am after a set of 195/55/15 for my daily and 3-4 trackday a year standard DC2R, been recommended the following and would really appreciate if you could share your experiences.

    Note, have always used directional so slightly skeptical about asymmetric in terms of a balance of performance and durability.

    1) Bridgestone potenza adrenalin RE002
    2) Goodyear Eagle F1 directional 5
    3) Michelin Pilot sport 3

    There is a thread already for this.
    I wouldn't run 195/55/15 go for a 205/50/15 or 225/45/15, As for tyre chose i recommend KU36's Or RS3's

      205 yes they are aight i run 205 on my DC2R and they look Meaty but wouldn't go a 225 on a stock rim they rub on the rear trailing arm without a spacer and are way to bubbly for a stock dc2r rim

        Karl - what is the negative of 195/55 tyres?

          I too would like to know why you'd run a 205/50 on a 6" wheel instead of the OEM 195/55.

          195/55 is a better suited width and has better feel and response (all other variables excluded).

          Plenty of good choices in 195/55 too.

            To me they look to Narrow. I under stand all tires have different tread to the road even being the same size.
            Personally i prefer more rubber to road. I acheive this by a wider tire and by having a summer performance tire with a large foot print

            Arnt Dc2R wheels 6.5" wide?
            Plenty of choices in 205/50/15 and like 4 choices in 225/45/15.
            Wouldnt run a 225/45/15 in the stock rim though. Need something like 7-7.5" wide!

              For 225s you should be running an 8" wide wheel.

                Hankook recommends a 7 to 8.5" wide rim for a 225/45/15 in RS3.

                  Karl - generally for a given tyre pattern - a wider & lower profile tyre has a shorter but wider footprint, while this may be OK in the dry, it is not necessarily around corners and in the wet...

                      DC2R AuDM wheels are 15x6.
                      JDM 98spec wheels are 16x7

                        FYI - I was in a similar situation 2 months back.
                        Ended up with a new set of Michelis PS3's. Was debating between RE002s vs PS3. Chose the latter simply to try something different as I've had B'stones in my previous cars. Went with the stock size 195/55 R15.

                        - Tyres work well in the wet. Inspire a lot more confidence than the old Yokohamas.
                        - No dramas what-so-ever in the dry. Took the car down to RNP for a spirited drive and absolutely loved it.
                        - I don't track my car so can't comment on tires' track-ability.

                        - No complaints above road noise. Doesn't make it any louder.

                        Only downside is simply "cosmetic" .. the shoulder of the tires are more rounded/curved than the angular shoulders common among sports tyres in the market. So from the rear, they look skinny (as 195s do) and goofy (!?) because of the rounded shoulders. But I can live with that.

                        (just providing some feedback because you were asking about PS3's)
