Changed your oil and filter recently? Pics inside of what happens when you don't!

Today an owner of a BMW 3-series (he had just bought second hand) brought his car into the workshop complaining of various issues.... The technicians were horrified at the sight when they removed the oil filter

The service book hadn't been stamped since 2001, or 80,000km.... hmmm, could this be possible?? 80,000km with no oil change??!

From looking at the pictures.... it certainly seems like the service book doesn't lie!

I was going to be so lazy and change my oil every 10k instead of 5k as I am not going to the track anymore. After seeing those photos, I will be doing an oil change in the next 2 weeks.

Oil filter costs peanuts, there's no harm in changing the oil filter everytime you drain the oil. The only excuse you have to yourself will be justified when you pay a bigger bill to fix "preventative" problems.
