Can someone pelase help suggest some silent tyres for me?

I'm upgrading my DC5 wheels (stock) so need a new tyre - I haven't had any issues with my Pirelli's but generally I try ignore the sound when driving, it'd be nicer if they were quieter though!

So all up I'm looking for them to be 225/40/18, $100-$200ea and well known for a comfortable/quiet ride. I was going after KU31's for a bit ($600 a set, perfect) but then read a guys review saying how loud his were and he wasn't sure why.

Are KU31's probably going to be the best tyre for me or are there better options (or more reliable)?

Oh and strictly a daily ride, 'touring' I guess, work/gym/class/drives and no track. Cheers

Ku31s are not silent. They slightly warp on the inside sidewall as they age.

Yokohama db decibels are silent tyres but they do not grip at all. Very hard compound.

I've used both and I would pick the ku31s over the decibels any day. I found it quite dangerous using the silent tyres.

Or you could go with re002. They are good with noise and grip so the best of both worlds.

Nah I would stick with the KU31.

IMO they hold up a lil bit worse/behind the RE002 however at $600ish a pop for the sizes I get, you cannot complain. RE002 are around the $750 mark for same sizes ONLY when they offer a buy 3, get 1 free promo. So I rather have a lil bit underperforming tyre for much much cheaper...

You can pay extra $150ish and upgrade to KU36 all around, but if price/longevity is a dominant issue, go for the KU31.

Cheers for the replies! I'm currently on Pirelli's and they're pretty quiet on brand new road but I'd imagine most tyres would be. What about Toyo Teo Plus tyres? Heard some good things about them too.

I guess just the general noise of driving on them, with my dads car for example its near silent when on roads where I can clearly hear it so if I'm investing in new tyres that will actually quieten down the drive it'd be a good thing to have.

Nope thats why I'm asking on a forum full of DC5 owners what tyre they'd recommend for a quiet ride

the point i am trying (but failing) to make is that if your dad has a BMW/Camry then there is no possible way you can match or even get close to the noise levels he has in his cabin.

without knowing what type of Pirellis you actually have - it is hard to say, but in general they are NOT noisy tyres...

I knew that - he has a completely different build of car which means whatever tyres he's running are irrelevant, I have mentioned I own a DC5 so that other DC5 owners could say they found "X" tyres to be incredibly bad or "X" tyres to be amazingly quiet.

They're Pirelli P7's though.

P7's are not "noisy" tyres.

are you sure it is tyre noise that is concerning you? not wind noise?

can you describe it?

and as others have indicated - choosing a tyre based on its noise level is a bit short-sighted...

Pirelli P7's got a 69% for comfort but Toyo Teo Plus seem to be an excellent option, about $195ea and 91% comfort

@tinkerbell I'm not trying to find a tyre that is only made to be quiet, I'm looking for an all around good quality tyre that also provides a high level of comfort which is what the Toyo's seem to have.
