What a normal gearbox should sound like ?

As title states, I'm wondering what a good condition gearbox should sound like for a DC5. As I am new to these cars can someone provide me with a video or explanation ?

Is it normal for the gears to make a mechanical noise when shifting ?

Is it normal for it to feel sticky ?

This happens especially from gear 1 to 2.

I apologise for asking such stupid questions..

Well.... It shouldn't feel sticky per say... Should be smooth when changing gears. Maybe you need a fluid flush!

As for sound, its hard to say... As mine is bloody loud and I had always found this normal, others doesn't have it as loud and others do. Hard to say in this department.

Thankyou eLtrix for your fast reply. Does a fluid change really make a huge difference ?

Makes a VERY big difference if it has been a long time since its been last changed.

Around 1.7 to 1.8L at an oil change. More at rebuild.

DC5R gearboxes sound loudly mechanical when running through the shifting gates.

A stock box should shift smoothly all around without much effort required. If you have a short shifter, it will require a bit more effort to put the car into gear.

If your worried about your gearbox, see if any of the board members here are willing to compare it to their cars to diagnose if anything is of concern.

                A DC5R/S gearbox takes around 1.6L for a flush.
