UHOH SPAGHETTIO! fuel on paint...

Today i went to the servo to fill up and was unlucky to use a dodgey pump - which started leaking onto my rear quarter panel...

Now question is, does fuel damage paint? i pretty much poured water and wiped it down in 10secs - but would there be any excess fuel that would slowly eat away the paint and such?

If there is a problem... would a paint detailer be able to fix it up?

it should be fine.

you shouldn't wipe it IMO, just pour water on it to try to wash off as much as possible. rubbing it may damage/eat away at your clear coat and paint.

probably best to follow up with some clay bar after its dry to make sure that it's all gone, and then wax on, wax off

thanks for the headsup... if i have wax lying around - can i just use that without clay barring? kinda late to get some at this time...

yeah, some good carnauba wax should do it..

last noob question - would i have to wax the entire car or just the rear quarters.. incase the rear bit looks abit off to the rest of the car

just that panel... you can wax your whole car if it looks different or if you have nothing better to do

learn some of the basics on good car care, and if I were you I would wash the whole car.

If you already had a carnuba wax on it then the wax would have come off, if however you had a sealant of some sort, it would not need to be reapplied.

And to wax or seal a car properly you need to wash, (clay if needed), use some polish and then seal.

If you need some product advice look in the appearance section for my process. of course you wont need to do all the steps.
