What did DC5Rs and DCSS sell for brand new?

Being on a car hunt I see hundred and hundreds of DC5s. I eeven found one on carsales for nearly 30k, with very few mods.
But does anyone know what the actual brand new price on one of these cars was?
    Just intrigued...

What did DC5Rs and DCSs sell for brand new?

I almost bought a brand new dc5r back in 04, drive away price was almost $48k
You have to remember demand was higher than supply at the time and there was no deals being cut, most were sold before they hit the showroom floor and it was almost impossible to get a black one

In 2001 a DC5R was 42,990 + on roads and that's without AC. AC was a $2000 option from memory.

I remeber in 2002 when they released the DC5R, my dad took me for a test drive in one. It was about $45,990

It was a black one out of somewhere else, same thing though with the really low kilometres.
I guess when you add up the original price of the car, and the fact that it's been pretty much nowhere, you can maybe almost think about justifying the price.

I happen to have an old car, without AC :\

As far as I'm aware they don't really change the interior.... They leave all the vents and everything the same, and the heat and cold knob. The heaters work as normal, but turning to knob to cold just gave you air from outside the car. May as well just open a window.

Re AC/lack of AC, in modern cars they build the car with everything set up to take AC if needed so venting etc stays the same, just the AC button is blanked off. In the 70s however, a lot of AC units were bolted on as a box under the dashboard and took up a bit of passenger leg room.
