Modification: cost, supplier and review register - worthwhile idea?

I.e have the first post that is regularly updated.

Excel idea for everyone seems good but then there's absolutely no control on what people edit. I hate to say it but some people might push their own initiatives (e.g. a mate's shop).

I do like the first post idea, or what about a Wiki page?

I'm sure you can arrange permissions in google docs. Only a select few can edit it. I think it is also possible as to who can view it too.

You can. The person who creates the document can allocate permissions.
