Rear license plate light on JDM DC5 rear bar

Hi guys just looking at putting the jdm rear bar on my dc5s. Does anyone know if the rear license light needs to be two by law or is one okay? Because the jdm rear only has space for one.

Not sure if legal or not having just the one LED.

Been running the JDM rear bar now for 2 years and counting. Havnt had any issues with highway patrol behind me and ask about it. Having said that the visiblity of the number plate is slightly reduced, but i really doubt the police will pick up on it. I mean its not very common for them to spot a rear bar with one light bulb, and if they do loook there there is only one spot for one light bulb and they wouldnt assume its an import one as the the car is aus delivered.

Rock the rear bar, you wont get into any issues.

If you have to get the bar painted, instead of running black perspex like i did, consider geting your painter to fibreglass a backing area so the number plate section is solid and is closed up.

Same here no issue running JDM rear.. and as Alex said definitely run led globe as they produce a decent amount of light.

Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah its probably okay eh. I guess my concern is that I'm going to be looking at driving up to Townsville from Brisbane (17hr drive) and the jdm bar will be on unpainted (unmatched MM on my BOM) with the wiring obvious. Just didn't want to add something that could be blatantly illegal (only one light) since the entire rear sticks out.

Also you can run the Mugen rear lip, and as discussed above only has the one bulb for the number plate.

You can't run the Mugen rear lip on the AUDM without shaving/cutting the Mugen lip.

The lip was made for the JDM rear bar exclusively.

The USDM RSX's also have to get their mugen lip shaved to fit their USDM bars as well.. But theirs seems to be an easier job than the AUDM bar >.>.


The only lip kit I know that fits the AUDM rear without modification (exceptions to Chargespeed and other universal fitting lips) is the Australian Honda Access rear lip. Known as A-spec in the US and in Japan.


A few years ago, there was a white type s... number plate was TYP-35S.. He had a shaved mugen rear lip to fit his AUDM bar. IMO it didn't look as natural as Alex's fit.. But it still works I guess..

JDM bumper let alone facelift will be incredibily hard to source. the search took me 9 months!

Fun times ahead! May just buy the lip and shave it. Or go "screw that, I want chargespeed"... time will tell.

Talk to streeter. It took a month or so to find mine but 4 months to source it to me on container. All in all a very good experience. Imo once you see the jdm on, the audm looks quite ugly. Its just too... big.

It's ugly even without looking at the jdm :P
