When VTEC cuts in does the car add any additional fuel? eg, over fuel
When VTEC cuts in does the car add any additional fuel? eg, over fuel
Im arguing with my mate he believes when vtec cuts in my car is over fueling which is why a bit more smoke comes out when in vtec and also when i leave him for dead
I wouldn't call it over fuelling but it definitely gets richer when the cam profile changes (VTEC).

What car does the OP own? Could be one that burns more oil then another.
Also what fuel and oil combo are you using?

basic rules of combustion: cylinder firing = air+fuel+spark
Want more power? add more air. VTEC changes the profile and duration of the camshafts, thereby opening valves for longer and wider, this allows more air to enter the combustion chamber. The ECU to compensate has to add more fuel.
Just like turbocharging, when adding air via boost, you must add more fuel to keep AFR (air fuel ratio's) safe.
