um, read the manual for your car perhaps? what does it say?

and read the manual for those other cars too?

does it say: don't drive until the light goes out?

    no.

the reason the Jazz has light that stays on is because it has no coolant gauge...

it also has a red light to say it is overheating...

when i drive the Jazz from cold, i just know not to hit VTEC while it is warming up...

    seriously,

just type "should i warm my car up before driving it" into google...

yeah, if you are up at Mount Kosciusko, in teh freezing cold, yes - probably let it warm up a little bit...

but driving warms up so much more than *just* the oil and coolant:

          your gearbox oil?

          your CV joint grease?

          your brake pads?

          your catalytic converter?

your exhaust system? (you know that when this is cold, the H2O vapour in your exhaust gas stays as water and will rust out your muffler? getting hotter quicker reduces the amount of water that soaks your exhaust internals...)

and by letting your car idle when cold - it runs mega-rich, which washes unburnt fuel past your rings and into your oil, contaminating your oil and reducing its ability to lubricate...

please let others know who might also be misconfused abt this topic...

              I/H/E/KPRO

I average now 8.9-9.5 Litres/100Km. Over the weekend, majority of my driving was done on the highway. It went down to 7.9L/100Km. prior to having the car tuned, I was getting 9-10L/100Km

When was the last time your spark plugs were inspected/changed? You may have gotten a bad batch of fuel and it has fowled the plugs.

Personally I would use BP Ultimate over Shell VPower any day of the week

I never run my DC2R to the "E" and the worst I've got is about 360 km to a tank in normal Sydney traffic to and from work. That's with a bit of spirited driving now and then.

On the freeway I've had it down to 7.3 l/100km (interstate run). Not quite as good as my 1985 BMW E30's 7.1 l/100km. By comparison, your DC5 is sucking more fuel than my old '64 EH Holden with 202 pushrod 8valve motor, carburettor and '70s Trimatic auto gearbox ever did (It was a thirsty 18 l/100 km).

I'd be getting it checked out.

Nice info on the cold start Tink... I tend to leave mine for a minute to warm over, but that's because I'm a relic from a bygone era

do you have a reason for this?

do you get more KM per tank or something?

I don't know if it's relevant or not but my old EF9 hated V Power. Lots of carbon out of the tailpipe and poor(er) economy. Ultimate was a lot cleaner and felt better in the motor. This was over seven years ago though so take it with a grain of salt. I just won't put it in any car now because of that experience.
