What CAMS licence is required to import a race car?

    Hi Guys,
Does anyone know what type of cams licence is required to import a car for racing purposes from Japan?
    Cheers

if you have to ask, then you probably won't be qualified enough/meet the criteria to get one...

Hey funky, I believe you need at least the PC (Provisional Circuit) license but please confirm first if you can.

The DIT haven't updated their document with the CAMS wording. It still says: "For closed circuit racing
the applicant must lodge with their application a statement that the vehicle will only be used for closed
circuit racing purposes together with a copy of a current CAMS C3 or higher grade licence."

        CAMS licenses link:

                My background?
Felix put me on to this site and i thought i would check it out.
He seems like a good guy and i thought i would register and ask a question.
Its unfortunate that you feel you have to put out posts like that but thats forums for ya.
                Anyway thanks for the info.
All i got to determine is if the pc is good enough or will i need the full licence.
The pc will be easy to obtain it seems with just a lecture and driving test.
                Cheers

yeah, first threads from new users posting up q's about importing JDM cars to circuit race are usually dreamers, but I guess I was wrong about you...

i would not muck around, i would call DoTRAS and get them to tell you 100% what is required...

                      No worries tinkerbell,
                      I should of introduced myself.
                      My car history is,
I started off in a LC torana when i was 18(20 years ago now).
It was a fun car but a bit of a death trap.
Next i moved onto a early RX7 and modified it.
I ran a 13B turbo in it and it layed down 234 hp at the rear wheels.
That was a great little car.
                      Next i got my nsx.
I fitted an arc titanium exhaust, short ratio gearbox suspension and brake mods.
Now its at the shop getting a new engine and supercharger fitted that will give it arounnd 440 RWHP.
I'm wanting to bring this car up to current super car specs.

my plan is to import another nsx and strip it down to 1050kg put in a roll cage and basically race it like that.
With a few exhaust mods like test pipes and intake mods it should produce
around 270 RWHP. not bad for 1050 kg.
This is definently no pipe dream.
The only thing stopping me is gaining the licence i need.

never raced, done some calder track days.
I'm dont really want to push my nsx too hard on the track, thats why i want an import so i can do some door to door racing.
I will keep updates on the cars progress coming.

What door to door racing category were you planning to race that NSX in?

I'm not sure yet regarding circuit racing, i will have to do more research on that.
I would also like to enter a few tarmac rally's and maybe some hill climbs.
My mate is Victorian sports sedan champion from last year and maybe i could enter that although up against spaced framed triple rotories and chev's i would be back of the field.
I will find somewhere to race it one way or another.
