The big news at the meeting is the 2013 NSX. I was told that it looks great. it will be powered by a 3.7 V6 putting out 450HP. SHAWD. Front Mid engine. Hybrid power with two motors. All aluminium and lightweight. very limted numbers. 4-5 to each dealer. Should make NSX and Acura owners happy again.

What Is It?
The long-awaited successor to the fabled NSX is once again under development. While Honda’s last stab at a new supercar called for a front-engine, V-10-powered design, this new car reverts to a mid-engine configuration.
The new NSX may be sold around the globe, but it seems as if its development is being orchestrated with Acura in mind. Although Mendel wouldn’t reveal whether the NSX would be a means of introducing the Acura brand in other countries, he did say that the car, its styling, and its technologies are being developed for the Acura brand. Sure enough, the NSX incorporates a number of design cues found across the Acura portfolio.
Like the previous NSX, the new car will be a means for Honda to showcase its engineering prowess – in this case, the new hybrid SH-AWD system. In this application, the gasoline engine will drive the rear axle, while a pair electric motors will propel the front wheels.
Why a Hybrid?
Although we know plenty of purists who bemoan the idea of a hybrid sports car, the NSX nameplate has always been a showcase of Honda’s engineering prowess, and the hybrid SH-AWD system is the company’s latest and greatest driveline development. Although we recently drove an Accord fitted with an early prototype of the system, we’re told not to use it to judge the NSX’s performance. Honda says the system is scalable and could incorporate larger, more powerful motors (and perhaps a hotter engine) to increase the net output.
When Will We See It?
If you’ve seen photos of the one-off prop car crafted for the forthcoming superhero film The Avengers, you already have a good idea of what the NSX will look like. The un-official rendering above gives some hints at what the NSX concept -- which will be a coupe, not a roadster -- will look like upon its official debut at the Detroit show in January.
Will it reach production?
At this point, the project is a go. You’ll see the “concept” name applied to the car in Detroit, but this isn’t a designer's fantasy: there is a program alive and well to develop this car for production. If all goes according to schedule, the new NSX should be ready to enter series production in three years – roughly a decade after the original was discontinued.

The Honda NSX supercar is set to return as a 400bhp four-wheel-drive hybrid. Honda has already confirmed that a new NSX will be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January, and now we have more information on the Japanese Audi R8 rival.
We’ve already seen spy shots of a concept car on the set of the new Avengers movie, and we’ve since had confirmation that the Detroit show car will be heavily based on that model. Our images show a coupe, but the final production version will also be offered as a roadster.
The concept will be shown as an Acura – the firm’s luxury North American arm – but it will be badged as a Honda when it arrives in the UK, and retain its forebear’s NSX name. Power will come from a 3.5-litre V6 driving one axle and a pair of in-wheel electric motors to turn the other. This will give the NSX four-wheel-drive traction and 400bhp-plus. Performance will be impressive, with 0-62mph taking under five seconds.

Yer nice and all but honda/acura should of neva discontinued the integra line for the price and how many they sold heavly out weighs sales nd profit from the nsx line . Nd if a supercar is what they wanted why 400hp ?? why not go for top prize of knocking veyron off its stool

It's also about delivering the same car in a sense that the R35 GTR did for Nissan. The R35 didn't exactly resonate the RB26 drivetrain or carry over the BNR34 chassis, but it has the exactly the same philosophy behind the GT-R name; To design a head kicking warrior whose supreme technological development will allow it to dominate the motoring world. The most recent Perfomance Car of the Year test done by MOTOR magazine proves just that as the GTR creamed the whole crop, which included the SLS amg, V10 R8, 1M, C63 and Cayman R.
So Honda in the same frame of mind has chosen to carry over that philosophy of balance, moderation and technological prowess to deliver a everyday super car within the context of the green modern world. They have avoided the penis measuring contest between manufacturers to see who has the most power, the lowest 0-100 and Nurburgring time (although a quoted lap time is inevitable) and instead integrated the alternative themes that the motoring world is seeing with hybrids and etc. Although i wish it was more a case of NSX-R reborn with boost, downforce and carbon fibre, it isn't. And grown up Honda is something we might just have to accept, heck, we have done it since the DC5R , what makes your complaints now any different?Honda Nationals, September 9-10, get amongst it!
