Rim Painting!

Anyone Know where to get rims Re-Sprayed? thinking of getting my Matte Gold CE28n's Painted a lighter/shiny gold.

i think Big O tyres do em but im sure there are better places out there. look for some powder coating places

Ive been told by a few places that powdercoating FORGED rims is a no no, apprently since they have already been subjected to heat before to forge them, they will just get weaker if heated again? im just repeating what ive heared,no idea if its true.

i didnt think powerdercoating involved heating again?

ahh that makes sense..but whether or not it heats up to the point where it could affect the metal is something out of my league lol.

im sure a few guys on here have attempted it or thought of attempting it.

Powdercoating or any other process that subjects an aluminium alloy to sustained high temperatures can have a negative effect on the strength of the material. Many aluminium based alloys have an ageing heat treatment applied to improve their strength when manufactured, and applying a heat treatment after this point can actually have the opposite effect with the material strength dropping. Powdercoating involves extended time in a powdercoat oven to melt and cure the powdercoat. I would be cautious and stick to paint and avoid putting your wheels in an oven, but it is up to you.

you could try your local spray shop? my mate took his rims to one and they did it for him..sprayed the rims for him n everything. only a couple hundred bucks i think..

but if u do it yourself - which is hell easy - itll only cost like 30-40 bucks..but with rims that are $$ id be payin someone..

yeah definately! haha if u have a mate whos a spray painter just get them to do it..gluck man!

Bah I DIY spray bombed both my SSRs and my Volks! But I don't recommend it if you care how your car looks. Ahmiie is probably right, just get them stripped and ask around for a good spray painter, any competent painter should be able to get a good finish and may be cheaper than a specialist wheel shop.

Honestly, I wanted to go Orange i think it looks hot..but my mate keeps saying orange doesnt suit the look of the ce28s, and im starting to see what he means...id like to go a darker and shiny looking gold.
