    First Car?

hey guys i was just interested in buying a 1999 Integra DC2 Type R.

can you guys give me a rough idea the max i should be spending?
and how many KMs is good for a first car.
im new to the Honda scene and yeah help is appreciated.

    Thanks

max i would spend on a dc2r now would be 16k if its in top condition and relatively low kms
Alot of dc2rs are thrashed so gotta be careful. Best to find one thats been taken care of.

I spent a fair bit above 16k and mine is in pretty damn healthy condition, obviously i lost the bargain, but I got a pretty damn good car.
But yea you can probably pick up a clean one for 16k these days.

Let's say they average a lifespan of 200k as at around that mark people wouldv'e started rebuilding already, and you rake in 20k km's a year so if you get it at about 120k kms it gives you about 3-4 years to have the cash to do whatever you want to it.

If you're from Melb I'm happy for you to to check mine out to see the sorta benchmark you wanna measure up against.

Someone on here was selling a RED DC2R with well over 200,000kms and he had a compression test showing that the engine had even compression across the cylinders.

You've made a very broad assumption.

Well I am saying average you know, I love my DC2R and as a matter of fact once people start getting into their R's they start giving it alot of red line on the track, and if we talk real average YES the rebuild does happen quite early, I'm not saying there can't be cars that will last longer if well taken care of.

And I'm just sharing my experience as that's how I felt when I purchased mine.

Also depends on how long you plan to keep the car, do you plan to resell at a later date ?

              READ this thread man. http://forum.clubitr.com.au/showthread.php?t=9426.

              IMO 16 - 20 for a good condition, low km, DC2.

LOL mines at 120k now, previous owner had compression test done prior to buying it and his results were high, and the other day I just pulled 101 front wheel kw on a sad dyno, so I'm pretty happy so far, I've had it for about a month now the only problem it had was thermostat, other then that no problems yet. Hoping for the same, I need the time to save the cash

Yeah, I heard about dc2r getting trashed! I would follow their advise about getting this car. However, if you're decided about this car I guess you can get something for 14-16k? Let us know how it goes!
