timbo, appreciate it if you could let us know the process you went through with getting the chip (is it called APR? Sorry, I'm a VW newb) through your VW dealer and warranty etc...

pretty sure it is apr, but it is totally done through volkswagen. we got a pack that included chip, leather and 17" wheels and continental tyres for $5500, called an R pack

i wanted a Polo GTi (replace the Seat Ibiza GTi i had)... but they were outta my range at the time, so got the teggy.

can we arrange a meet at a private location to see if i did choose the right car... and so i can look at one.

APR chip boosts power to 150KW..... and 330NM of tourque. i test drove a Audi A3 1.8t before the teg. all it had was the chip..... and the turbo hits full bost (round 12-14PSI) at 1800 or so RPM... fuck it was a quick car. first time i drove it i thought the clutch was slipping, but cause it had the 15's (and like 185 wide tyres) i later found out it was the tyres...... very fun. was worth the 2k just for a chip.

yeah it has a good kw increase, 152-154kw. the torque is the best part but. its absolutely instant! effortless acceleration, very different to a wrx or something like that. defnately worth the chip, not that its bad standard either but

Couldn't agree more 45SET and timbo, even though I don't have the chip yet - turbo kicks in at about 1,500rpm... instant goodness! I can imagine how bad ass it'd be once i get it...

Stock torque is amazing but 330nm with the chip, that's close to evo territory lol
Unfortunately torque steer is a huge problem in the polos, even in stock form - Timbo does it get any worst in your missus's car?

I wonder if there's a LSD for the POLO? Its a wise move to upgrade one especially after the chipping for all these torque.

it does experience some torque steer under hard acceleration but not as bad as i expected to be honest. it is alot of power for a polo. still remains very composed.

Good news! Just asked Guy from APR in QLD, they are going to install a LSD on their Polo GTI. He mentioned it's avaliable aftermarket.

That's definately good news lovesil! ... man the more you guys post, the more i feel like I'm missing out... never realised the tuning potential of the polo is so high. Now what to do with warranty... lol

lovesil have you thought twice 'bout getting your colt =P

LOL i work next to Harding Performance...(www.hp.net.au)
I just went to see Guy's workshop...my car is parked infront of his workshop everyday...lol

my friend just bought a Polo GTi as well, but he paid more than $28k for one...$30k more like it. But he did have a trade in, so i guess that's why

the chip + tune for the Polo GTi is $1850 for factory warranty cover but $1750 for no warranty cover. and boosts the output to 152kw-154kw (at the fly)

i saw their prototype exhuast for the Polo GTi yesterday, it looked pretty good...

I did actually! But Polo will only be my choice if i have to fork out too much for the Colt. Either way, my next car will be black. Black Polo looks the best and Black R.Colt looks stealth.

the RRP for a Colt is more than a Polo GTi is it not?
but i guess you have more bargining power with Mitsubishi
