Honda's ultra-hot hatchHonda's Civic Type R hatch has been massaged by Mugen
Not just any old hot hatch, this particular Honda Civic Type R is tuned by the car maker's performance division Mugen.

Currently being readied for the European market, the new model is an upgraded Civic Type R that boasts a range of audacious visual/aero gear including a huge rear wing and a set of 'racing' alloy wheels.

Expected to be called the Honda Civic Type R 3D, the car has a Mugen-designed carbonfibre aerodynamic body kit comprising an enhanced front bumper section with a new-look grille, various carbonfibre appliqués plus a number of motorsport inspired air vents -- two in the bonnet and another pair hiding behind the driving wheels in the pumped front guards.

New side skirts give the car a hunkered-down appearance while the rear end features that huge wing as well as ultra-large circular exhaust tips surrounded by an integrated rear bumper and diffuser.

Powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that will spin past 8000rpm, it is likely to be a development of the unit that powers the standard 148kW/193Nm Type R Civic powerplant.

A six-speed manual gearbox sends power to the front wheels. There is also a slim chance Mugen may tweak the engine somewhat, lifting power to around 170kW.

At this stage the vehicle is only slated for sale in UK/Euro regions.

it would be pretty cool to have the japanese/uk/us mugen upgraded civics as a collection.

even cooler if mugen scraps the upgraded si sedan and focued on a mugen si coupe with performance upgrades worthy of being next to the japanese and uk version.
