Round 3 was held at Wakefield Park last Sunday. Weather was ideal for a sprint round when the early thick fog lifted in the morning
We arrived at Wakefield at 8:30, thinking we are early, but to our surprised everyone is already there, some ppl were there since 7am getting ready. Oh well, next time we'll make sure to be earlier.
After our crap Round 2, losing a lip and sussy failure, we need to make up for it this Round. We spent 1hour on saturday afternoon making a DIY front lip and slipter which turned out pretty decent. Our effort was turn to shits, when a spin on the very frist lap (warm up lap), the rear end kicked out, putting the car into a spin and losing the front splitter. The lip barely survive... All was good, a few more rivits fixed it for the day of racing. (thanks to the bettle guy)
Day started out slowly, after missing Run 2 with the TWM quads letting us down due to a missing bolt on the accerlerator linkage made the car a sitting duck in the grass during session 2.
Towards the end of the day, after getting the right tyre pressures, the car easily push low 1:08's laps and one good lap of 1:07.89 to officially confirm our testing time earlier in the year. The team is very satisfy with this result and feels the car can further improve after finding out some minor issues towards the end of the day. Our closest rival Leo in his Toda/Mfactory civic wasnt too far behind with a lap time of 1:08.3. Gota give credit to him as he keep pushing us to go quicker and plus he improve nearly over a second from his last pb.
The end result was a Class Win and new Type and Class Record of 1:07.89 for the BYP Civic
The plan for the next outing at WP is to lap consistent 1:07's and hopefully push into the 1:06's
Stay tuned for a short clip
And Lastly, gota thank the usual crew who has helped build and developed the BYP Civic and the EVO boys for lending us a car space.
