Representing Club ITR at Mx5 Putty cruise.

Freakygeek and myself attended the NSW MX5 club putty/wollombi cruise today.

We left Tamworth at 0600, drove 350kms to Colo Heights through Jerry's Plains/Putty road and meet up with the MX5 guys at 0930.

In typical form Cambo overtook basically the entire MX5 contingent from Colo Heights to the Halfway House, so many MX5's, so little road.

We drove the broke road to Wollombi for lunch and then headed home.

After driving the new MX5 the other night both myself and with Freakygeek at the helm, the progression in design from the older model is unbelievable.

The car is so refined, poised and has that "fun factor" that doesnt need insane speed to be enjoyed that I love about older Hondas.
Moreso how Mazda have built upon the foundations of the original MX5 concept without reinventing the wheel is something to be commended, something Honda could learn from.

Here are a few snapshots from the cruise, didn't have time to take any decent pictures.

Sorry for the disjointed post, have had a few beers after a very long day.

I followed one of these new MX5s at Winton and to be frank their nimbleness and agility is quite scary! It was even more scary when it spun out infront which in turn created a dust storm!

By the way, they had 33 cars turn up to the cruise and 2 crazy "ring in" Honda's turn up for a one day weekend drive.

We didn't even have that many turn up for the mega crusie last year.

Yeah - although Mega-Cruises usually have less cars due to the overnight stay and the extra kilometres and stonechips that people can't possibly put on their cars.

But even still... These guys get 20+ cars quite regularly on short-notice weekend drives. Why can't we do this?

I think you answered your own question =)
