dc2R race cars imported to OZ - a bit of trivia

alright guys...a bit of trivia here. i need the help of fellow type r enthusiasts!!

has anyone ever heard about Twelve DC2 Integra Type R's that were specifically imported by Honda to be used on track as race cars? around 2000-2001.

more specifically - Aussie home loan sponsored track cars?

if anyone can produce pictures of these or provide proof of the above mentioned... there may just be a reward involved!

apparently I am one of the owners of 1 of these 12 - according to Honda (where i service my car) - my car never made it to the track according to them (but the guy who i bought it off reckons it had 150 odd kms on the clock) - he was the only previous owner of the vehicle. The car even comes with a kill switch on the exterior of the car (no longer working).

I was called by the boss of Honda Australia to confirm this - but they won't provide anything in writing about this which kinda sucks so i wanted to see if anyone may have ever come across the above information before...

like i said, a bit of trivia...

and no it does not come with JDM goodies

    cheers!!

Not sure if this is it - back in 2000 there was a support race at the Gold Coast Indy 300, DC2Rs were used and later sold by some dealers. From memory these cars were race prepped.

The winner of the race in 2000 was Marcos Ambrose, this was just before he made it big in V8 Supercars.

        thats a start!
        thanks heaps dude!

the guy at Honda reckons 8 made it to the track...but on that sheet it states clearly 9 on that race sheet.
im sure we must be on the right track here... the reason why i ask about an Aussie home loans car is the sticker marks are still on my roof! but you only get to see it with the right amount of sunlight and looking on the right angle.

All cars have been modified for their specialist role on the tough Indy track, with special attention to safety equipment such as fire control systems, bladder fuel tanks and steel roll cages.

Bingo, I remember reading the article on autoweb/autospeed:

                  http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0620/article.html

Honda will showcase the cream of Australia's young motor racing talent in an Integra Type R support race at this year's Honda Indy 300. Ten of Australia and New Zealand's top young drivers - including Formula Ford's Leanne Ferrier and V8 Supercar driver Steve Johnson - will compete in Young Guns in identical Integra Type Rs. Young Guns has been designed to expose Australasia's top young drivers to an international audience, with the winner given the chance to test with Champ Car development series team Dorricot Racing.

With a total of five on-track sessions - including practice, qualifying, a one-lap shootout and two live-broadcast races - Young Guns is guaranteed 40 mins of national television coverage during the October 12-15 festival. The Young Guns will be selected by a group of industry experts including Chairman of Honda Indy 300 John Cowley, News Ltd National Motoring Editor Paul Gover and Honda Australia Deputy Managing Director Neal Robertson.

Ten Young Guns GT Production specification Integra Type Rs will be supplied by Honda dealers and will be built by Honda Australia with the support of sponsors Yokohama and Conrad Jupiters.

Yokohama has thrown its support behind Young Guns following a successful working relationship with Honda supplying tyres for its pace cars in previous Honda Indy 300s. Around 50kg of parts, including the rear seat and spare wheel, will be removed to make way for a full roll cage and other safety equipment.
Does your car have a roll cage? And does it have bonnet pins? I remember the ex indy cars being sold with bonnet pins and cage.

along with 100% honda service history, log books and under 100,000 km...its almost a collectable to be honest.

i must advise that when i received a call from the Honda service manager when i took the car for its first service at a different Honda dealer(my first as the owner) the service manager was telling me that they had no records or history of the car (implying it may have been a re birth).

let me tell you it was the most stressful couple of hours after i got off the phone knowing i spent a lot of money, a lot of time and effort making sure the car was in good nic etc and was the right one i was devastated..BUT then i received the call from the boss of Honda Australia confirming it was 1 of 12 imported specifically as a race car this made my year!! - also on the back of my Honda red key pack is a little post it note which has in writing from about 10 yrs ago - 'Honda race car' - so this is 1 of the little things that also confirms this little bit of trivia re the car.

its also a type r sport - which originally came with red recaros - but someone broke into the car and stole these seats from the honda dealership when it was being serviced - Honda replaced these seats accordingly with brand new seats - however in black and not red

made me think for a second, as my car was originally from Qld, and then went to Melbourne and Sydney.

For a minute i thought it could have been one of those cars, but mine doesn't have bonnet pins nor any evidence or a roll cage.
