Correct, they are a ROH wheel, not sure on the model though.

Last weekend I went to my parents while my girlfriend was in Byron Bay, with the plan to install this Mishimoto oil cooler kit that finally turned up.
World's longest delivery time from Sydney.

I had seen photos of the sandwich plate not having enough room, but hoped I'd somehow not have that issue and that wasn't the case.
Once the sandwich plate was in place, there was no room for connectors.
So instead, I made a mount for the cooler, changed the oil and then ordered a GREX sandwich plate that is much more B series friendly.
That has left Japan already, so I'll install it when it arrives.

Yesterday was the last EXE Winton for the year, so after the worst sleep of my life, I headed up to Winton at 4am.
The weather was expected to be mid 20s, which always feels warmer at Winton than anywhere else.

I would have liked to have the oil cooler installed to test it, but that can wait until next year.

Setup is pretty standard for me, so we will move straight to the lap times.
I wanted to take a more 'hill climb' approach to these sessions, focus on getting my laps and then coming in, instead of circling all day and getting frustrated or pushing the car harder than it needed to be. I never seem to benefit from doing that.

      So lap times by session.

      1:51.0680 1:39.3420 1:38.0660
      1:50.2650 1:37.6660 1:38.1180
      1:46.8890 1:37.7280 1:38.0200
      1:56.5610 1:37.4750 1:42.9600 2:01.0780

On my out lap, I give the wheel a good yank through the corners to put some heat in the tyres and see how slippery the circuit is and there was ample grip already.
The first 1:39 was really just a dawdle around, so I figured I better give it a good run on the 3rd lap.
To be honest, there wasn't much to talk about in this lap and it ended up being quicker than my previous PB of 1:38.21 at H Nats.
It was a nice confirmation that what I had achieved at H Nats is now the standard, like I'd unlocked the ability to do 1:38 on call.
I have watched my laps from H Nats MANY times over the past weeks, so it wasn't like I needed to get comfortable on the circuit and I'm forever comfortable in this car at the moment. It has driven quite a bit.

The 2nd session, I had proclaimed to Bong (white JDM DC2R, you probably know him) that I was going to do two 1:37 laps for him.
I followed a REALLY nice Ultima GTR out and I assume it takes longer to warm up than mine, so I wasn't sure if he knew I was coming up on him through the sweeper! We got through the boobs and then he blasted off down the straight. I got a bit crossed up going into the dog leg, but held together a reasonably clean lap for my first 1:37 lap ever!
On the 2nd lap, I made a few mistakes the biggest being forgetting to change gears onto the straight heading towards the dog leg and bounced the limiter a couple times before I realised. The car also wasn't as stable through the sweeper, I had turned in slightly earlier after the first apex and lost some speed.
Either way, I had put together a 1:37.66 lap and I suitably impressed with myself and the car. Bong was disappointed I only did one for him.
I sat out the middle session, waved some flags, had a chicken burger and did some socialising.
I was also going to sit out the 4th session as it was still quite warm, but figured I'd go out a run a couple laps.
Another 1:37 lap was achieved, though was the slowest of the 1:37s at this stage.

The last session I ran, there was a drop in temperature due to some clouds, so I followed Eddie in his Evo on what was probably a warm up lap for him but FLAT OUT for me! This lap was reasonably clean, except for some terrible heel toe into the start of the boobs.
I thought I better back this lap up, but after getting crossed up out of the sweeper, I encountered some traffic and wasn't quite sure if they saw me so didn't want to duck up the inside. That was the end of the day for me, as I went back into the pits to pack the car up, which takes way too long. I need a pit crew!
Here is my new PB of 1:37.47.

And some photos to add to the text.

And that sums up a pretty good day out!!
I won't be at Winton again this year and probably not again until the weather cools down in April/May, pending when the first EXE track day is there.
I might do PI in mid November, but definitely doing Haunted Hills on 5th Nov and 2nd Dec.
      Thanks.

Pity the cooler kit didn't make it in time but at least you got out there. The half size radiator gives you a crap load of room for fitment.

Was it supposed to be direct fit for a civic or was it a universal kit?

            1st and 2nd are stock, 3rd, 4th and 5th are shorter.
The top left hand is my current gearbox setup, middle is stock EK4 and top right is how the gearbox was when I first bought it with the 4.9fd.

Yeah, there is plenty of room for activities!
I may put a full size radiator in there at some point if required.

It was just a universal kit. I found a S2000 kit that they make, but not a Civic one.
I've never dealt with oil lines and fittings etc, so figured the easiest way to go about it was via a pre-made kit.
Shouldn't be any issues once the other sandwich plate turns up.

Nice work rhys. Any issue with the grex plate? I know the S2000 kit only works with Toyota and Nissan filters. Same for the civic one or do they supply the proper thread pitch adapter?

I ordered the kit with the 20*1.5mm thread pitch.
If that doesn't work, I'll just use the bit from the Mishimoto kit.

The Greddy female thread oithis M20x1.50 so it will screw onto the block.

The male pitch is a nissan/some Toyota pitch of 3UHf or something.

I got around this by using a m20x1.50 make and female thread from mocal. Costs like $13 shipped

I went to screw a filter on the male end this morning and it didn't match, so it looks like I'll just use the one Mishimoto supplied.
Thank you for the Mocal suggestion though, that will be my other option!

Sounds like you've already got a few options but I'll chime in anyway....

There is no need for extra adaptors, you can just run whatever filter fits.

Both 3/4 and 13/16 UNF filters are very common, just search the ryco catalogue by dimensions to find one that has the right seal diameter to match your sandwich plate. I've been using a z386 for ages from various corolla's etc, I've switched to a z632 from a Mazda 3 that is a better fit for my new kit. Bonus is the filters are cheaper as well since Mazda 3 are very popular here.

Another weekend of hill climb was upon us, so I made the journey down the freeway to my parents house and Bryant Park.
The weather was supposed to be mid teens with some cloud, so that is always a good start.
I went up on the Saturday for some practice and it started to rain just as I arrived and soon stopped, so we could start work on the 'clockwise with additional loop' layout.
I'd never run this layout before, so I had a few things I wanted to try, particularly which gear to use on the cross over and then right towards Oh Shit.
During practice I thought 2nd gear was adequate and felt going to 3rd may be too much gear changing for such a short length of track.
Other than that part of the track, I am pretty confident with the rest of the track so took a few people on passenger laps and just talked shop with the old boys.
The turbo EG I drove previously and I in the carpark.

When I woke up Sunday morning, the weather was quite nice and we'd had no rain overnight.
The class lap record for this layout is a mid 84, which I knew was never going to be an issue, so I was aiming to get under 80 seconds.
This is reasonably quick around this layout I soon found out, so other than two open wheelers under 80 seconds, it was just myself and a RX7 vying to be the first tin tops under 80 seconds.
The RX7 was running Nankang NR1s and was a second or so slower than me, so he switched to his Dunlop semis and instantly went under 80 seconds!
We were talking about weight reduction, so I took my passenger seat out for the next run and went half a second slower than previous!
I thought I was going to be slightly faster, as I had made a slight mistake on my 80.2 run before that. I think I got too much wheel spin off the line, so the next run I made sure to slip a bit more clutch and not be so dramatic off the line.
This got me a ridiculous 79.5, which was much more than I had expected. I backed it up with another 79.99 to finish the day, so I was quite happy with the result.
1st in class with class lap record, 4th overall for the day. Once again, a number of people took interest in the Civic, so hopefully more people realise you don't need a monster car to take on the hill climb track. The old guys know this, but I'm not sure the youngsters do.
There have also been many spectators the past 6 months, so hopefully my basic Civic can encourage them to get involved. I do promote the cheap car (or relatively!) life to anyone that wants to listen.

                            Times for the day
                            81.18 80.81 80.23 80.28 80.82 79.52 79.99.

Some photos to go along with my wall of text.
                            A friend's ridiculous 911.

And this is my fastest run of the day.

Today, the oil cooler battle continued, with the new GREX sandwich plate being much more compatible with the location of all the bits and pieces down the back of the engine.
I test fitted everything and found that the lines are too long and need to be trimmed down. I had thought this previous, but hoped that once it was all mounted up it wouldn't be the case. Dad didn't have a thin cutting disc and I'd never done this before, so I'll leave that for another day. I'm really dragging out this install!
20171106_103714 by I WEAR MOCCOS, on Flickr
I looked at running them a couple of other ways, but with a stock engine bay, this is the most direct and without obstruction. I probably need to clean up this engine bay one day. Maybe when I swap the engine in the very far distant future!!
Next hill climb is 2nd December!

I'm just interested in going as fast as I can there, and the class lap records are a good target to aim for!
Will need to wait until the entry form for December is released so I know which lay out is planned to be run. Historically, it has always been the short clockwise, which I don't have the class lap record for...yet!!
