    HANS Device

    Hi team.

Track talk section has been a bit dry lately so I thought I'd open up a discussion (did a search but couldn't find a recent thread).

    HANS device.

Who here uses one for their motorsport activities?

Pro's? Con's? overkill for practice days? brand's? uses in different motorsport categories?

We all understand the need for the Pro's to use one in professional racing due to increased risk of accidents and to protect them is such event but what about for the regular Joe attending a local practice day?

    Discuss.

I don't use a HANS device for my track days. So I can't really give much insight or feedback.

In my opinion you can really never go overkill on such an important thing such as safety for a track day *EDIT*, was a Hill Climb day not a track day . I had a pretty big accident at racing speeds in my EK1 a few years back and a hans device might've helped a bit with the sore neck.

I've heard a couple of the MX5 guys have been badly injured using a harness without Hans...that said, I would also speculate that being much older played a part (weaker neck muscles?).

Likelihood is very, very low for track days...about as likely as you've heard anyone destroying their car at a track day. However when it happens, unlike just losing a car, you could lose a lot more.

the car in front of me flipped at a track day once.. was horrific. So when you say its as likely as that maybe a Hans device isnt a bad idea. You most likely would look like a douche though.
