#IAMDRIVEN World Suicide Prevention Day Campaign 2014

World Suicide Prevention Day brings attention to one of the world’s largest causes of premature and unnecessary death – suicide. The international theme for World Suicide Prevention Day 2014 is Suicide Prevention: One World Connected. This reflects the fact that connections are important at several levels if we are to combat suicide – at an individual level and cross-border level.

This year’s World Suicide Prevention Day occurs on Wednesday, September 10th and leading up to the day we are inviting you to get involved in our campaign. Quite often, people living with the experience of suicide are faced with a lack of motivation; a lack of drive. We challenge you to question your drive and in doing so, help others to find their own. It could be anything from the motivation of your life, what drives you to make a difference to someone’s life, or as simple as the reason you get out of bed each morning.

Leading up to September 10th we encourage you to answer our question of “What drives you?”. We hope that through our campaign we can bring attention to suicide prevention and being connected we will be able to help those who are vulnerable to suicide. With your help a difference can be made to the lives of many.

One person can create a difference but together, we can create change.

    With hope,
    Team Cars For Hope

Get involved with #IAMDRIVEN in any of the following ways:

    1. Submit your #IAMDRIVEN entry

Download and print an #IAMDRIVEN card and tell us what you drive and what drives you. Print extras and ask your friends and family to share their responses, too.

Then, take a photo of your completed response and submit it to us via the submission form or send it to iamdriven[at]carsforhope.com.au. Even better, take a photo of yourself with it! We’d love to see your beautiful face.

If you can’t print an #IAMDRIVEN card don’t worry because we also accept plain text submissions. Just follow the format below:

    WHAT DO YOU DRIVE? (Answer)
    WHAT DRIVES YOU? (Answer)

Leading up to World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th, we will be posting your responses to social media and the official site www.iamdriven.com.au so start submitting!

    2. Spread the message on social media

Change your profile image and cover photo on your social media accounts with our WSPD Social Media Pack.

We will be changing ours as well to create awareness for suicide prevention leading up to September 10th.

Be sure to tag @carsforhope and include the #IAMDRIVEN hashtag on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr!

Follow the hashtag #IAMDRIVEN and visit www.iamdriven.com.au to keep up with the campaign.

    3. Wear an #IAMDRIVEN sticker

By purchasing an #IAMDRIVEN sticker and wearing it on your car, you are showing others that you support mental health. Wear one on your car to show you care and spread the word about World Suicide Prevention Day and suicide prevention in 2014.

The #IAMDRIVEN sticker is custom diecut and measures 20cm in length. Stock is limited and only available during the dates surrounding World Suicide Prevention Day through our friends at Zen Garage. (Delivery for Australian residents only)

Remember that there is always something that you can do to help someone you think is in danger of committing suicide(1):
    1. Let them know you are concerned
    2. Ask if they are thinking about suicide and if they have made any plans
    3. Take action to get help now

No matter how confronting it may be, you could save a life.
