Rules of the Technical Forum <<<<<<<<<<<----- THIS FORUM HAS SPECIAL RULES

Any threads/posts not conforming to the rules and template will be edited or deleted with impunity by the moderators.

    Rules:

    1. Search first
Remember to search before starting a thread. There may already be a thread on the exact topic and the question you have may have already been answered. It is better to bump an old thread with new information, requesting more information or clarification rather than start a new thread.

    2. No selling
This applies to Vendors also. If you have a product relevant to the thread and a poster has shown an interest in it then PM them. Don't clutter up a technical thread.

    3. Technical posts only
No chatting or off-topic posts. Posts of this type will be deleted without warning.

    4. Use proper spelling and grammar
This forum is English language based and users are expected to post in English. Technical discussion requires that clear meaning be conveyed and if no-one can understand what you are trying to say then your question will not get answered.

    Thread Template:

Title: The thread title must be descriptive and contain terms relevant to the query or issue. This makes it easy to identify the purpose of a thread at a glance and also serves to make threads much more easy to find in the future using the search function. "Help" and "Question" and variations thereof are not acceptable.

Body: The post body must include the following information:
    • Car: If the thread is not car specific then this may be omitted. A good example of a generic thread is "Why are roll centre adjusters unnecessary?" or "Are spherical bearings in suspension parts useable on the street?"
    • Any relevant modifications: If the thread topic applies to many models or is not car type specific this may be ommitted.
    • Question or problem: Be as descriptive as possible. For example, if it is a weird noise your car is making then take a video; or if it is a broken part or similar then take a picture. Diagnosis via the Internet is difficult. Adding in pictures and video really help.

Note: If your question is simple and just needs a factual response that could be answered in the first page of Google results then consider taking that route instead. An example of a question like this is, "What is the capacity of a B18C?" If the question is more opinion based then consider posting it in General Automotive Forum.

Rules for Replies in the Technical Forum

    1. Responses to any thread in the Technical Forum should be addressing the main thrust of the issue being discussed.

    2. Responses should be detailed with references where appropriate and should not simply restating another persons previous post in that thread.

    3. Responses of one line are unlikely to be sufficient to make a relevant point.

    4. Responses should be accurate and informative, ideally based on evidence/experience.

    5. Responses that do not meet the above requirements may be deleted without notice.
