Looks great Tom. I don't think you will go slower the only thing I would worry about is getting it warmed up to stick

I might but I hope I don't . I think you guys are overestimating the effect of rolling resistance with wider tyres, I am more concerned about getting the tyres adequately up to temperature.

I think you have that backwards guy, you are my idol. I can only dream of owning a K20 Integra that is as fast as yours around a circuit.

What does that even mean? Does that mean that my best tactic will be to FWD dorifto into the hairpins to try and heat up my tyres?

I thought you claimed that your EG had camber and aggressive offset, and I don't ever remember your DC5 having either?

hey Tom is this or will it be caged?

aren't you worried that your chassis will twist like a pretzel with all that grip?

Well to get heat into your rears u may need to do something like that... Good luck to u sir!

No cage, and I don't think that it will ever be fitted with one. I could go in that direction with the car but I am not really keen on turning it into a more race oriented car as it is my first car and has some sentimental value. I would prefer to get another DC5 shell and build another car using what I have learned from this one .

EDIT: Maybe if it was a DC2 I would be worried about the chassis bending and flexing.

Tom, just wondering if your setup gives more stress to the drive shaft that it might break?

What part of the drive shafts do you think will break? The CVs will be at a slightly different angle due to my ride height and camber and hence the bits inside them might wear slightly differently compared to stock, but this is true of any lowered DC5.

Since you mention it though I have ordered a new CV boot to replace a slightly split one on the front drivers side. I had previously sealed it up with some silicone I purchased from Bunnings and that has worked for more than a year and 8 track days .

Update - Superlap 2009 Clubsprint Class

Mugsee DrTran and I made the trek up to Sydney this past weekend to get up to some mischief and attend Superlap at Oran Park GP. The event was quite well run with a surprisingly decent amount of track time. Separation on track could have been a little better, and it would be nice if they used blue flags in the future.

Starting with the positives my new wide street wheel and tyre setup (255/235 Advan AD07) gripped very well when the surface was smooth. There was absolutely no rubbing anywhere on the chassis or guards either which was nice. It felt really nice and balanced although more understeery than I was expecting. This may have been due to my more tentative driving style compared to driving at Winton for example. I can certainly get it to oversteer nicely when I want it to.

The negative part of the day is that I was slow. Very slow. I am not hugely disappointed except for the fact that I will possibly never get to track at Oran again before it closes. The major reasons I identified for for my slow times are as follows in order of importance:
                            • My driving was crappy, inconsistent and overly cautious. I don't think I put together a lap I was happy with for the whole day.

                            • My suspension is far too stiffly sprung and way overdamped for the bumpy surface of Oran Park. Certain sections such as the massive bump on the entry to turn 4, the bumpy exit to turn 8 and the turn 10/11 crest were made quite difficult by my car skipping over all the bumps. My suspension needs attention anyway as Sydney roads have taken their toll and I have a few shifty noises coming from my front end now.

Here are my times for the day:
