Toda Racing MFactory @ Round 6/7, CAMS SS Championships

Toda Australia MFactory @ Round 6 and 7 of the NSW CAMS Supersprint Championships

    Round 6

Following a very fun run at the Shift/Ozhonda day @ Wakefield Park, we fronted to round 6 of the Supersprint Championship at Eastern Creek just 2 weeks later. The beautiful morning that greeted us did not give away the challenges that we were to face during the day.

In short, there was nothing much too say - We had handling issues which caused the car to snap over steer entering the corners, so much that it happened twice in the first run. At the same time, we were suffering from a serious misfiring problem which meant the car was seriously down on power (Which turned out to be a faulty Ignition lead - Ah yes, we all love ebay stuff )

On our final run, as we climbed corporate hill, we developed a gearbox issue which necessitated our retirement from the event . In our only consistent lap of the lap (We did like 4 laps for the whole day!), we managed to pull a 1:54 in traffic which placed us in 3rd for the day’s event.

We retired to address the issues face and get ready for Round 7 in less than a week at Oran Park GP.

    Sabotaged by the Ninja Terrorist!

    Round 7
The run up to Oran Park GP was a very busy one which saw the entire team pull out all stops to get the car ready. Showing utmost dedication and a strong will to win, the car was ready to rock just in time for Round 7. Rumbling and roaring, we arrived at Oran Park early in the morning where frost was still visible on the grassy fields.

In my previous post, Oran Park isn’t my strong track, and it usually takes me a while to get into the rhythm of driving. Run 1 and 2 went by, really slowly…but the key point was that I was warming up to the track.

At one point, Dave and I paired up and had a fang around the circuit, which was funny though because it felt as if we were running so slowly it was painful!!! You can view the vid here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykIVSWCVPwk

It was a beautiful day and I started experimenting pushing the car in different areas of the circuit. Almost sliding off after the Dog Leg, but I actually did slide off going into turn 1 and promptly got bogged in kitty litter and had to be towed out – This was the first time I ever had to be towed out and hopefully it will be my last. The camaraderie of the other racers was such that they come up to me, congratulating me on my efforts in tilling the land. Only one observation was a very obnoxious RX7 driver who kept jumping queues and pushing himself to the front – He must really think he’s very quick *Phhht - Loooooossseerrrrr*

The unintended farming took out my front lip - grrr...now I need another one.

Through the efforts of Toda Australia and MFactory, we recovered strongly from Round 6 to come away with a Class Win and set a new class record (Which we had previously set…haha) by almost a second. This is a testament to the team and as such, this win is dedicated to Adrian and Ashley from Toda Australia.

I would also like to express my thanks to the various people who have supported us.
